Private dining Amsterdam: a room of your own all evening
Private dining in Amsterdam, the way we host it: a room that is yours for the whole evening. We have two of them, the Sauna room seating 35 and the Waterfront seating 80, both on Papaverhoek in Amsterdam-Noord.
The kitchen cooks Mediterranean and serves everything as a sharing menu. Three courses €35 per person, four €40, room hire €250. Match your group size below and you will see every price before you ask us anything.

Which room fits your group?
The short version: up to 35 seated guests take the Sauna room, 36 to 80 take the Waterfront, and anything larger becomes Restaurant Exclusive, a full buyout priced on request. Hire for either fixed room is €250, with a minimum bar spend of €1,000 for the Sauna room and €1,500 for the Waterfront.
Standing capacity runs higher, 80 in the Sauna room and 100 in the Waterfront, so late joiners for drinks are never a squeeze.
Private dining for 10, 15 or 20 guests
Groups of 10, 15 or 20 settle comfortably into the Sauna room. The room seats 35 in total, which leaves a smaller party a generous table and elbow room for drinks before the first course.
Budget maths for this size: €250 hire, a sharing menu from €35 per person and the €1,000 minimum bar spend. Feel like making an occasion of it? Add a two-hour private sauna session before dinner, booked on request.
Private dining for 30 to 40 guests
Thirty guests sit right on the border between our rooms. Up to 35 the Sauna room still seats everyone; from 36 the Waterfront takes over, with 80 seats.
At 40 guests the Waterfront is the obvious pick. As a guide, a Premium Bar package at €50 per person carries a group this size well past the €1,500 minimum bar spend.
Private dining for 50 to 80 guests
From 50 guests the Waterfront starts to shine: 80 seated, 100 standing, €250 hire with a €1,500 minimum bar spend. Paella earns its keep at these numbers, with one pan feeding up to 60 guests and a vegan version available.
Past 80 we switch to Restaurant Exclusive, the whole restaurant reserved for your event with 100 seated or 150 standing, priced on request. Share your date and headcount and we will draw up the options.
A private dining room, properly private
A private dining room in Amsterdam should mean the door is yours. Book the Sauna room or the Waterfront and your group has the space to itself all evening; for privacy across the entire venue, Restaurant Exclusive closes the whole place for you.
Dinner is family-style sharing: caponata and pimentos de padrón to open, then platters of piri piri chicken, grilled sea bass and Greek salad. The kitchen rotates the menu with the seasons and sets a creamy mushroom risotto on vegetarian tables. Choose 4 courses and the evening ends with churros and a classic dame blanche.
Private dining in Amsterdam-Noord
Papaverhoek, Amsterdam-Noord, water at the doorstep. Noord gives a dinner room to breathe: light off the water, space around the tables and a quieter pace than the centre.
The mood is what we call the Mediterranean state of mind: full platters, a warm welcome and nobody hurrying your last glass. Coming from the city with your whole group? On request we arrange a private boat to bring everyone over.

Frequently asked questions
What is a minimum bar spend?
Room hire is €250. On top of that comes a minimum your group spends on drinks over the evening: €1,000 in the Sauna room, €1,500 in the Waterfront. Every drink and drink package counts toward it. As a guide, thirty guests on the Basic Bar package at €35 per person already clear €1,000.
How private is private dining at Café Soleil?
The Sauna room and the Waterfront are separate hire spaces, so the room you book is exclusively yours for the evening. For a venue that is entirely yours, ask about Restaurant Exclusive, the full buyout priced on request.
What group sizes can you seat?
Seated: 35 in the Sauna room, 80 in the Waterfront and 100 with a full restaurant buyout. Standing, those numbers rise to 80, 100 and 150. Outside those ranges, email info@cafesoleilamsterdam.nl and we will look at it with you.
How does the sharing menu work?
Each course arrives in dishes for the whole table and the table serves itself. In advance you pick 3 courses at €35, 4 courses at €40 or the festive menu at €45 per person. The selection rotates seasonally; dietary wishes go in your quote request.
What does a full evening cost?
Three parts: €250 room hire, the menu per person at €35 to €45, and drinks. For drinks you either book a 3-hour package, Basic Bar €35 or Premium Bar €50 per person, or run a tab with the minimum bar spend as the floor.
Can we add music or extras?
Yes. DJ equipment costs €250, and for €250 a Paella Chef cooks on site. On request we also arrange a two-hour sauna session, a T-shirt print workshop, the team game Kettingreactie or a private boat pick-up for your group.
