The Waterfront is the most striking private room at Café Soleil, an exclusive hire space on the IJ canal in Amsterdam Noord, right on the water. With seating for 80 guests and standing room for 100, it provides the perfect setting for intimate dinners, private parties and team events where you want the whole venue to yourselves.
Café Soleil is set in a former shipyard building. The Waterfront connects directly to the terrace and offers an immediate link to the water, boats passing, light on the IJ, the openness of Amsterdam Noord. Out of the city centre, but just 10 minutes from Amsterdam Centraal.

The rental fee for the Waterfront is €250, plus a minimum bar spend of €1,500. Dinner and drink packages are priced separately per person: a three-course Mediterranean dinner costs €35 p.p., a four-course menu €40 p.p. Drink packages start from €35 p.p. (Basic Bar, 3 hours).
How many guests does the Waterfront hold?
The Waterfront seats up to 80 guests and holds up to 100 standing. For larger groups, the House of Woodstock (100 seated / 150 standing) or the terrace (200 seated / 500+ standing) are also available for exclusive events.
Is the Waterfront actually on the water?
Yes. The Waterfront is the room closest to the water. It adjoins the Café Soleil terrace, which looks directly onto the IJ canal. You can see the water from inside the room and step out onto the terrace.
What add-ons are available with the Waterfront?
Options include a T-shirt print workshop, Kettingreactie (interactive team-building game), DJ equipment (€250 extra) and a private boat transfer from Amsterdam Centraal. All add-ons are available on request. Mention them in your quote request.
Is the Waterfront suitable for smaller groups?
Yes, the space works for compact groups too. The minimum bar spend of €1,500 applies regardless of group size. For smaller groups (8–35 guests), the Sauna Room (€250 rental, €1,000 min. bar spend) is sometimes a more cost-effective choice.
How do I get to the Waterfront from Amsterdam Centraal?
Café Soleil is in Amsterdam Noord, roughly 10 minutes by the free GVB ferry from Amsterdam Centraal (direction NDSM), then a 5-minute walk. By car, free parking is available right at the venue, a big advantage over city-centre event spaces.
